Today, with a market capitalisation of about <strong>\u00a341 Billion<\/strong>, it is an UK giant, and a world player on the energy market.<\/p>\n<p>Looking at the financial statements [<a title=\"BG Financials\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bg-group-ara.com\/financial-statements\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.bg-group-ara.com\/financial-statements\/index.html<\/a>], the company is excellent shape.<\/p>\n<p>A balance sheet of <strong>\u00a365 Billion<\/strong> in total assets and only \u00a332 Billion in total liabilities, thus the shareholders have <strong>\u00a333 Billion<\/strong> in Equity in the company.<\/p>\n<p>Looking at the annual report [<a title=\"BG Grpup Annual Report\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bg-group-ara.com\/shareholder-information\/shareholder-information.html\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.bg-group-ara.com\/shareholder-information\/shareholder-information.html<\/a>] one find some useful information.<\/p>\n<p>page 29: [$2.1 billion equivalent of hybrid bonds issued in three tranches and maturing in 2072]<\/p>\n<p>page 29: [net borrowings were $10 624 million]<\/p>\n<p><strong>page 33<\/strong>: [<strong>Some of the major risks involved in BG Group, activities cannot, or may not, reasonably and economically be insured<\/strong>.]<\/p>\n<p><strong>page 76<\/strong>: <strong>The Major Shareholders<\/strong>:<br \/>\n<strong>BlackRock Inc 7.6%<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Legal and General Group plc 3.52%<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Norges Bank 4.48%<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Very interesting to see that some of the bonds issued by BG Group mature in <strong>2074<\/strong>, paying an annual interest rate of <strong>6.5%<\/strong>. That rate is incredible.<\/p>\n<p>[<a title=\"BG Group Listed Debt\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bg-group.com\/INVESTORRELATIONS\/Pages\/BondholderInformation.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.bg-group.com\/INVESTORRELATIONS\/Pages\/BondholderInformation.aspx<\/a>]<\/p>\n<p>Yes, able to borrow on the bond market, for <strong>61 years<\/strong>. What this means, is that creditors are willing to lend to BG Group, getting a fixed income on their money of <strong>6.5% each year until 2074<\/strong>, as they must be\u00a0confident in the long term ability (financial credibility) of BG Group to meet all its debt obligations. Thus they have confidence in the credit worthiness of BG Group.
