Another deficit month, thus to bridge the gap, needs to borrow on the bond market.<\/p>\n<p>In July 2017, the HM Government had to borrow money to meet the difference between tax revenues and public sector expenditure. The term for this is The PSNCR: The Public Sector Net Cash Requirement.<\/p>\n<p>There were \u201conly\u201d 4 auctions of Gilts (UK Government Bonds) by the UK Debt Management Office (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.dmo.gov.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.dmo.gov.uk\/<\/a>) to raise cash for HM Treasury:-<br \/>\n25-Jul-2017 1\u00bd% Treasury Gilt 2047 <strong>\u00a32,500.0000 Million<\/strong><br \/>\n19-Jul-2017 0\u00be% Treasury Gilt 2023 <strong>\u00a33,162.4980 Million<\/strong><br \/>\n06-Jul-2017 1\u00bc% Treasury Gilt 2027 <strong>\u00a32,867.8060 Million<\/strong><br \/>\nWhen you add the cash raised:-<\/p>\n<p>\u2211(\u00a32,500.0000\u00a0 Million + \u00a33,162.4980 Million + \u00a32,867.8060\u00a0 Million) =\u00a0 \u00a38530.304 Million<\/p>\n<p>\u00a38530.304 Million\u00a0 = <strong>\u00a38.530304 Billion<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On another way of looking at it, is in the 31 days in July, HM Government borrowed:-<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a3275 million each day<\/strong> for the 31 days.<\/p>\n<p>We are fortunate, while the global banking and financial markets still has the confidence in HM Government to buy the Gilts (Lend money to the UK), the budget deficit keeps rising. What is also alarming, is the dates these bond mature 2023, 2027 and 2047.
